Starting the Yhwach Unlock Chain

Unlocking Yhwach and the subsequent "The Almighty" transformation is widely considered one of the most demanding grinds in Legacy Piece. The process is strictly gated, meaning you must complete specific stages in order before the game allows you to proceed to the next. All activities center around the Quincy Castle and the Quincy Herald NPC.

Before diving into the boss fights, ensure you have the necessary race requirements. Community reports emphasize that this is the most common point where players get stuck: you must be the Human race when accepting the "Quincy Ascension" quest from the Herald. If you are already a different race, you will not see the quest options properly.

Obtaining the Quincy Race

Your first goal is to awaken your Quincy blood. Head to the Quincy Herald at Quincy Castle. You will need to farm 250 Reishi Fragments from the local mobs. While 250 is the requirement, it is highly recommended to farm extra, as these fragments are required for later stages of the unlock process.

Once you have the fragments, switch to the Human race and accept the Quincy Ascension quest. The quest requires 500 Quincy Soldier kills. You must track these carefully; if the quest does not appear, verify your race status. Upon completion, you will gain access to the Quincy race bonuses, including boosts to Max HP, Critical Chance, Defense Penetration, and overall Damage.

Defeating the Sternritter Bosses

With the race unlocked, you must face the five Sternritters to force the Yhwach boss to spawn. These bosses are summoned via statues scattered around the Quincy Castle grounds.

Each statue requires 20 Reishi Fragments and 50 Quincy Soldier kills to activate. Crucially, these kills are server-specific. If you leave the server or disconnect, your kill count for the active summon will reset. Plan to clear all five bosses—Gremmy Thoumeaux, Askin Nakk Le Vaar, Bambietta Basterbine, Jugram Haschwalth, and As Nodt—in a single session to avoid wasting your farming efforts.

Unlocking the Yhwach Style

After defeating all five Sternritters, the Yhwach boss (The Quincy King) will spawn. This fight is the primary source of the Quincy King’s Soul, a mandatory item for the style unlock.

To finalize the Yhwach style, you need to collect specific materials:

  • Quincy King’s Soul: Drops from the Yhwach boss.
  • Schrifts: You need two copies of each of the five letters (B, D, E, F, V).

Once you have these items, return to the Quincy Herald. Inscribing these materials will grant you the base Yhwach style. This style features a moveset centered on Reishi attacks, such as Reishi Slash and Sankt Zwinger, along with the Royal Command ability, which allows you to summon Sternritters to fight alongside you.

Mastering The Almighty Transformation

The Almighty is not a standard move unlock; it is a powerful passive and transformation that serves as the endgame for this questline. You can only begin the quest for The Almighty after you have already obtained the Yhwach style.

The questline is divided into four stages: 900 Years, 90 Years, 9 Years, and 9 Days. These stages require a combination of rare boss drops, money, and shards. You will need to continue farming the Yhwach boss repeatedly, as he drops the materials necessary to progress through these stages, such as the Sovereign’s Crown Shard and the Emperor’s Reishi Heart.

Tip

Combat Scaling: The Almighty transformation allows Yhwach to scale with style, weapon, and ability damage simultaneously. When transformed, your attacks can ignore 50% of enemy defense, making it a top-tier choice for bossing and global events.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

If you find that the unlock chain is stalled, re-evaluate your current standing against these common community-identified hurdles:

  • Quest Availability: The Quincy Ascension quest is invisible if you are not currently the Human race.
  • Server Persistence: Do not server-hop while farming for Sternritter summons. If you leave the server, the kill count for the statue activation resets to zero.
  • Inscription Failures: If the Herald refuses to inscribe your Schrifts, double-check your backpack. You need two of every letter—not just one—along with the Quincy King’s Soul.
  • Missing Quests: The Almighty questline will remain locked until the Yhwach style is fully equipped and registered to your character.

By staying in one server and systematically farming the Reishi Fragments and Soldier kills, you can overcome the grind and unlock one of the most powerful styles in Legacy Piece.
